Campus Specific Information
Additional duties include:
- Works with the Director of Career Services to contact and recruit employers to seek out new internship and job opportunities, and distribute that information to students and alumni.
- Advises journalism students on internships and job searches; provides guidance on writing appropriate cover letters and resumes; reaches out to alumni and students with jobs appropriate to their special interest/talents.
- Helps plan and implement on-campus career events.
- Develops and implements events, post-graduate skills workshops and other initiatives to keep alumni actively engaged and build strong ties to the school.
- Oversees an alumni database, calendar of events and a periodic alumni newsletter.
- Enlists alumni to assist the school in recruitment and interviewing of applicants, internship and job placement, presentations at open houses, and appearances at fundraising events.
General Duties
- Develops and manages career development programs and services in a College of Unit and assumes a leadership role in the design and delivery of creative approaches to career education and planning. 
- Assists in unit planning, such as setting goals and objectives, and monitors status of progress toward meeting goals
- Designs and produces outcomes assessment reports; reviews outcomes and feedback and recommends strategies to expand and improve services.
- Directs a portfolio of targeted career programs, such as mentoring, internship, and alumni programs
- Manages one or more aspects of career office operations, such as on-campus recruiting
- Evaluates new technologies, assessment materials, and other career tools, makes recommendations, and acquires/implements them
- May counsel a limited number of students
- Performs related duties as assigned.




Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree and six years' related experience required.

Other Qualifications
- Journalism experience, journalism coursework, or familiarity with journalism
- Student advisement and/or tutorial experience
- Knowledge of computer databases, spreadsheets, web and blogging software
- Clear ability to communicate well with people at all levels, both verbally and In writing
- Record of successfully engaging alumni and/or employers
- Excellent organizational and research skills; proven record of follow-through
- Record of devising creative strategies to achieve departmental goals.
