Description

CUNY's School of Professional Studies (SPS) offers innovative undergraduate and graduate level courses, certificates and degree programs, including CUNY's first online degree programs. Drawing on CUNY's nationally and internationally renowned faculty and practitioners, SPS offers programs in a wide range of disciplines, including Masters programs in Applied Theatre, Labor Studies and Disability Studies.
 
Reporting to the Manager of The Paul A. Kaplan Center for Educational Drama and the M.A. in Applied Theatre the College Assistant/Student Services Assistant will:

  • Assist with student inquiries, admissions, financial aid, enrollments, and registrations for MA in Applied Theatre, ensuring the highest levels of student satisfaction; identify student needs and assist accordingly.
  • Assist with  student record keeping
  • Monitor and update attendance records
  • Schedule on- and off-site classroom needs
  • Organize course materials
  • Order course materials
  • Set up rooms and generate signage to direct students to class locations
  • Assist current students with logistical needs (i.e. transcript requests, questions)
  • Collect and track course assignments
  • Summarize and distribute student course evaluations and student surveys; disseminate results to professors and administration
  • Provide information about classes to potential students over the phone or via email
  • Assist with other tasks as required

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma
  Preferred Qualifications:
  • Some college preferred. At least 1-year of administrative experience is preferable.
  • Strong Customer Service orientation and personable nature.
  • Strong computers skills and proficient with the Internet.
  • Excellent telephone etiquette and communication skills.
  • Strong reading and writing skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and act as a member of a team.
  • Must be energetic, well organized and patient with a blend of technical and analytical skills, initiative, and independence.
  • Ability to prioritize, establish and meet goals and milestones, including the ability to make judgment calls and to respond tactfully in all situations.
  • Ability to follow up, good with details, ability to deal with many issues concurrently.
  • Fluent in Microsoft Office applications and web-enabled communication. Experience in student registration systems a plus (SIMS).

$15.00 per hour
