Description

The Office of Public Programs produces several unique and high-profile public programs, under the leadership of the Director of Public Programs, to help build a constituency for the Graduate Center and highlight its mission.  The College Assistant/Public Programs Assistant shall assist the Director of Public Programs and other staff in the department with administrative duties related to planning and implementing a busy calendar of public programs.  This position also plays a design role in creating digital signage, images for flyers and email announcements, and working with the website’s content management system (“CMS”).
 
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
 
The College Assistant/Public Programs Assistant will have responsibility for:

  • Phone queries and event reservations
  • Payment processing
  • Research:  assists in researching potential program ideas and possible participants.
  • Drafts digital signs, images for flyers and email announcements, enter information into the CMS
  • Drafts correspondence, text for promotional material, and text for website.
  • Answers phone queries and assists patrons with our online reservations system
  • Processes all check requisitions
  • Additional duties: assists with filing, photocopying, and other administrative duties as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma
  Preferred Qualifications: 
  • Excellent writing and research skills preferred
  • Strong administrative and organizational skills, some experience with event planning, and familiarity with other cultural and academic events around the city is desirable.
  • Knowledge of website content management systems and Adobe software is preferred.
  • Good customer service skills is desirable.

Salary Range

$17.00 - $20.00 per hour
