Description


The PhD/DMA Programs in Music is seeking part-time help to assist the Assistant Program Officers, Executive Officer, and Deputy Executive Officers.  With the guidance of the APOs, the College Assistant will carry out all the duties necessary to maintain optimal efficiency in the operation of the music programs.  Duties will include, and not limited to the following:
 
-General office support for Music Program office – telephone skills, filing and file maintenance, faculty support as needed
-Serves as “point person” for faculty, student, applicant and public queries
-Responsible for admissions support for all music areas (DMA Performance, DMA Composition; and PhD Programs {Composition, Theory, Musicology and Ethnomusicology}) including maintenance of documents, confidential files and related databases
-Responsible for faculty search support and related files and databases
-Responsible for the organization and coordination of department language exams
-Responsible for the distribution and final compilation of course evaluations
-Responsible for student locker assignments
-Works with webmaster for the Music Program website – prepares and edits information gathered from students/faculty/alumni for posting as Music Program Newsletter
-Create and maintain files for various program data, especially student/faculty /alumni directories and mailing lists; maintaining office inventory; assisting APOs in the maintenance of student files; redesigning and updating/streamlining various forms for internal Program use; and additional special projects as assigned by the EO, Deputy EOs and/or APOs

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:
-High school diploma
 
Other Qualifications:
The preferred candidate should have:
 
-Some college a plus
-Excellent communication (oral and written) and interpersonal skills
-Ability to exercise discretion and make informed judgment decisions in the practice of administrative duties
-Ability to recognize and handle sensitive/confidential faculty and student matters
-Excellent computer skills (Mac and PC), word processing (MSWord), and database (Excel and Filemaker Pro) skills
-Excellent clerical skills (i.e. filing organization and attention to detail)
-Flexibility in performing and prioritizing a variety of tasks according to need

Salary Range

$14.00 per hour
