Description

Ricochet – Arts for All Ages! is a festival of French performances for young audiences and their families presented by The New Victory Theater alongside French Institute Alliance Française (FIAF), in collaboration with Cultural Services of the French Embassy in New York. It features Compagnie X,Y, (New Circus), Compagnie Clan des Songes (Puppetry) and the artist Phia Menard (Juggler/performer). On the occasion of this festival, the Segal Center hosts afternoon and evening discussions with French and American artists, producers, and scholars. Additional panelists will be announced in March.

Afternoon Session:

2:30 p.m. – 3:30 p.m.: Trends in French and American Theatre for Family Audiences
with Director Isabelle Bertola (Théâtre de la Marionnette) and Mary Rose Lloyd (The New Victory Theater).


4:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.: Writing for Young Audiences
With playwright Marion Aubert and producer Anne de Amézaga of Compagnie Louis Brouillard (Joel Pommerat). Moderated by playwright Charles Mee (Professor of Theatre Arts at Columbia University).

Evening Session:

6:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m.: Working in Both Worlds: Knowing Your (Young) Audience
With Claudia Orenstein (Hunter College, CUNY) and others.

7:30 p.m. – 8:30 p.m.: Nouveau Cirque
With French circus expert Vanessa Silvy and others.
