Tania León Takes Center Stage at International Music Festivals

New works by Tania León (GC/Music) will premiere at the 2015 national convention of the Sigma Alpha Iota International Music Fraternity on Friday, July 24.

The St. Louis Chamber Chorus will perform León’s En El Sendero Ancho, based on a poem by Iraida Iturralde. She will also serve as a judge of the fraternity’s Inter-American Music Awards Competition, which promotes contemporary composers of the Americas.

Earlier this month, León was the featured composer at the 11th Annual Thailand International Composition Festival, founded in 2005 by the award-winning Thai composer Narong Prangcharoen.

In addition to conducting the Thailand Philharmonic Orchestra in the performance of her work Horizons, she taught master classes and presented a lecture. The festival also featured chamber works by León.
