Deadline Extended to January 31st for New Catastrophic Sick Leave Bank
The deadline for enrollment in CUNY's new Catastrophic Sick Leave Bank Program ("CSLB") for eligible full-time University employees has been extended to January 31st, 2014.
The CSLB is a pool of sick leave and annual leave, voluntarily donated by individuals employed full-time on an annual salary basis, for potential use as sick leave by employees who are also donors to the bank. Eligible employees with 5 or more years of full-time continuous CUNY service may donate sick leave and/or annual leave to the CSLB. Eligible employees with less than 5 years of service may donate annual leave to the CLSB. Employees must have donated at least 1 day of sick or annual leave for the program year in which leave is needed. Donating time to the CLSB allows an eligible employee to receive up to 90 days from the bank in any program year, should the employee be on unpaid status due to a catastrophic illness.
Days donated to the CSLB will be deducted from an employee's time and leave record immediately following the enrollment period. Annual participation will continue automatically unless an employee elects to withdraw from the program or becomes ineligible to participate.

Please note the following criteria for eligibility:
FT employees with five (5) years of full-time continuous CUNY service may donate sick leave and/or annual leave;
FT employees with less than five (5) years of service may donate annual leave;
Donations are done on an annual basis;
Eligible employees may receive up to 90 days from the Bank in any Program Year;
Days donated to the CSLB will be deducted from the employee’s time and leave record immediately following the special enrollment period.
Effective date for eligible employees to apply to receive time from the CSLB is December 16, 2013;
For future years, the open enrollment period will be held each October.
