Caterina La Fata Almendral is a Senior Research Associate at the Center for Advanced Study in Education. Caterina is currently working on a number of initiatives including the Simulation and Modeling in Technology Education (SMTE), and Jumpstart projects. SMTE involves the development and research of a hands-on middle school technology curriculum and a hybrid model comprised of hands-on learning and a game experience. Jumpstart explores the impact of the Jumpstart program on its Corp Members who are college students helping pre-school children build early literacy skills. Caterina also provides service-learning trainings, and assists with service-learning research and evaluation, and curriculum development. Caterina’s research interests include the exploration of teacher feedback practices, infusing service-learning in different educational settings, and teacher professional development.
