A Maeterlinck Reader: Plays, Poems, Short Fiction, Aphorisms, and Essays by Maurice Maeterlinck
(Peter Lang, 2011)
This is a compilation of plays, poems, essays, short stories, and aphorisms by Maeterlinck (1862–1949), one of the most important writers of the twentieth century. The editors have included, in fresh translations that convey Maeterlinck’s revolutionary innovations in theatrical language, selections that show facets both exemplary and extraordinary of this Nobel Prize–winning author, the "Missing Link of Modern Drama.” David Willinger (Prof., City) is on the doctoral faculty in theatre. Daniel Gerould (Dist. Prof., GC), who holds the Lucille Lortel Chair in Theatre, serves on the doctoral faculty in comparative literature, theatre, and the Renaissance studies certificate program.
