Performance Studies Option
The Option in Performance Studies has taken new life this year as both students and faculty have worked together in its curriculum development. Drawing from their personal experiences and intellectual interests, students have been developing the theoretical position of the Program’s option as well as a bibliography of up-to-date related scholarship. Students have expressed their excitement about being part of this process as it gives them a sense of ownership of their program of studies. Indeed, to participate fully in curriculum development committee gives them a unique opportunity to voice their interests, address fundamental theoretical concerns, and work together as a team in a mutually supporting environment, as they benefit from the guidance of the faculty. It is a process that not only contributes to reaching a collective goal but also helps students to reflect on the multiple ways in which the Program’s Option can help them condense multiple interdisciplinary interests under one major platform.
