Gerardo Piña-Rosales, Professor, Ph.D. Graduate School and University Center, CUNY, 1985, studied at Queens College, CUNY (B.A. in Spanish, 1977) and at the Graduate School and University Center of the City University of New York (M. Philosophy, 1982, and Ph.D. Spanish, 1985). He has taught at Queens College (9/77-6/80), at The Spanish Institute of New York (2/80-8/81), at Lehman College (9/81 to present) and at the Ph.D. Program in Hispanic and Luso-Brazilian Literatures, Graduate School and University Center (9/92 to present). He has also taught at Teachers College, Columbia University. He was elected Numerary Member of the North American Academy of the Spanish Language, April 1992, and Correspondent Member of the Royal Spanish Academy (Madrid), April 1992. He has been the President of the Iberoamerican Poets and Writers Guild since April 1992, and President of ALDEEU (Spanish Professionals in America, Inc.), 2002-2004. In February 2008, he was elected, by unanimous vote, Director of the North American Academy of the Spanish Language. He has been included in the CUNY´s Literary Faculty Winners Circle, May 2008.
