Prior to joining the faculty at John Jay, he was a faculty member in the Department of Psychiatry of UMDNJ-New Jersey Medical School. He is committed to studying issues related to the recovery and successful community integration of persons with severe and persistent mental illness and has received funding from NIMH to study these issues. Areas of particular interest included community integration, the impact of coping, interventions to address internalized stigma, and interventions for persons with criminal justice involvement.
