Faculty News: Saltzstein Article Wins Award
Herbert Saltzstein, professor of psychology at the Graduate Center, and his colleagues Edson de Souzafilho and Anderson Scardua have won the 2013 Jose Miguel Salazar Award for the best article published in the Interamerican Journal of Psychology for the period 2010–2011. The article, “Auto-Representação e Decisão Moral,” was published in vol. 44, no. 1, 2010, and is available here.
The award committee noted "that the topic addressed by the authors is of interest to psychology as it touches on issues of morality and ethics, as well as social interest according to the country of origin of the work: Brazil. At the same time, take into account cultural, religious, and family, education and interpersonal relationships in dealing with the concepts of self-presentation and moral decision. It combines quantitative and qualitative methodologies using an interesting system of moral dilemmas and situations and questions. The authors’ interpretation of the results is consistent with the topic, with the hypothesis and holds the probability of developing the principle of truth in social life."
