Prof. Maria Elena Torre Wins 2013 Michele Alexander Early Career Award
Professor María Elena Torre, the director of the Public Science Project at the Graduate Center, has received the 2013 Michele Alexander Early Career Award, an extremely competitive and prestigious award given by the Society for the Psychological Study of Social Issues (SPSSI).
The award follows a lead nomination by Michelle Fine and supporting nominators Perry Gilmore, Louise Kidder, Susan Opotow, and Brett Stoudt. The committee said that this year’s applications were outstanding, and each truly reflected the spirit of SPSSI. Torre's record of scholarship, teaching, and service was described by the committee as the embodiment of this honor.
