His work provides the underpinning for much of the empirical and clinical enterprises regarding the developmental process over the past half-century. Using more than twenty-five of his most thought-provoking, conceptual, and clinical writings as its base, this book provides a systematic construction of his theories and integrates them with his clinical work, so that Winnicott as preeminent clinician sits alongside Winnicott the generative theorist.
