Erin Rogers, a DPH student in the health policy and management track, presented the poster “Can Telephone Smoking Cessation Programs Reach and Treat Homeless Smokers?” at the Society for General Internal Medicine 2012 Annual Meeting in May 2012. She is also working on a project for the tobacco research center, NYU/Abu Dhabi Institute for Public Health Research, and another, titled "Proactive Telephone Outreach for Smokers in VA Mental Health," for the NY Harbor Healthcare System. The latter is evaluating the effectiveness of a population-based, proactive outreach program for mental health patients at four VA health care systems.
Michael Schmeltz, a public health doctoral student in the environmental and occupational health track, attended the workshop on Urban Spatial Planning in Response to Climate Change in Asia at National Taipei University, New Taipei City, Taiwan, November 26-30. The training workshop, which included lectures and discussion groups, covered topics in urban land form, the role of spatial planning, and local governance policies.
Bill Sothern, a public health doctoral student in the environmental and occupational health track, is featured in a New York Times video on preventing mold growth resulting from hurricane Sandy.
Jessica Steier, a DPH student in the health policy and management track, coauthored an Epi Data Brief for the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene titled, "Qualitative Data on Young Adult, Non-Daily Smokers in New York City."
