David A. Gerstner is Professor of Cinema Studies at the City University of New York’s Graduate Center and College of Staten Island. His books include: Queer Pollen: White Seduction, Black Male Homosexuality, and the Cinematic (2011, Choice Outstanding Academic Title, 2012); Manly Arts: Masculinity and Nation in Early American Cinema (2006); The Routledge International Encyclopedia of Queer Culture (editor, 2006—New York Public Library “Best of Reference,” 2007); and with Cynthia Chris he has edited the just published Routledge anthology, Media Authorship (2013). In 2003, Authorship and Film was co-edited with Janet Staiger). He is currently co-authoring a book about French filmmaker, Christophe Honoré for Wayne State University Press.
