AcademyHealth at CUNY Hosts Semi-annual Event

On October 29th, the AcademyHealth at CUNY’s Student Chapter hosted its semi-annual networking event and panel discussion on emerging research in the field of Public Health Systems and Services Research (PHSSR) and its impact on communities and population health. The panel included three faculty members of the CUNY SPH. The distinguished panel on ‘PHSSR: Translating Evidence into Action’ included Shoshanna Sofaer, DrPh, Baruch College Professor and Robert P. Luciano Chair of Health Care Policy (and our student chapter faculty advisor), Sean Haley PhD, Asst. Professor at Brooklyn College, and Marthe Gold, MD, MPH, Logan Professor of Community Health and Social Medicine at City College and a visiting scholar at the NY Academy of Medicine. The highly informative presentations reflected the panel’s extensive on-the-ground experience and included suggestions for student involvement, followed by a lively discussion on important public health policy issues.
