Description

“Beirut – in Between,” explores and illustrates the multiple identities found in Lebanon’s capital city. After a lengthy civil war, in the 1990s, the city and especially the downtown were reconstructed. Politicians and developers aspired to reposition Beirut on the world map again; however, critics alleged that they have built another Disney World.

Fadi Asmar grew up in Beirut and since his youth, he was fascinated by the city’s architecture and urban planning. His passion is photography. He is a graduate of American University of Beirut with a degree in Urban Planning. In 2012, Fadi took a break from his doctoral studies in Japan and completed his Master’s in Digital Photography at the School of Visual Arts in New York.
