Description

Imagining God: The Divine Universe of Lucy Hutchinson

CLAIRE FALCK is Assistant Professor of English at Rowan University. Falck’s dissertation, “Radiant Shrines: Imaging God in Early Modern Protestant Poetry,” examines the ways in which writers and their culture develop and evaluate images of God, in the several senses of “image” that she carefully articulates and explores. The thesis also offers powerful perspectives on the workings of representation and of forms in their many senses, which interest many scholars whose work involves arenas other than religion. In addition, the project, like her other work, participated in the recent interest in visuality.

Cosponsored with the Society for the Study of Women in the Renaissance.
