Sarah Schulman, well-known chronicler of marginalized subcultures and queer urban life, discusses her new novel, The Cosmopolitans, with journalist Linda Villarosa. Schulman’s book captures the beat, soul, and texture of Greenwich Village in the late 1950s, harmonizing two classics, Balzac’s Cousin Bette and James Baldwin’s Another Country.
Presented by GC Public Programs, the Feminist Press, VIDA, and the Futures Initiative. The Cosmopolitans is the inaugural book in the Feminist Press’s Corrective Canon series.
