Foundation Benefit Dinner to Honor Carell

The Graduate Center Foundation will honor Monroe Carell, Jr. at the Seventh Annual Benefit Dinner in support of The Graduate Center November 10. A reception will take place at 6:30 p.m., followed by a 7:30 dinner.

For more than thirty-seven years, Carell has directed the growth and administration of Central Parking Corporation, a company he founded and of which he is Executive Chairman. Today the company, the largest parking company in the world, operates more than 3,500 facilities throughout North and South America and Europe. An authority on functional design and operational planning, Carell has been associated with some of the largest mixed-use projects in the world, including Canary Wharf in London, the Crown Center in Kansas City, and the Petronus Towers in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. He is a generous donor to many causes benefiting children and young adults; a new children's hospital in the Vanderbilt Medical Center bears his name.

Carell has been involved with The Graduate Center since 2001, when he attended the third annual benefit dinner for The Graduate Center Foundation. He soon established an endowed fellowship for dissertation-level students. As a result of this gift, each year selected doctoral students receive financial support to help them complete their degrees before they go on to make contributions in their fields.
