City of the World

On March 14, 2007, the first concert in the series City of the World—celebrating the music of three immigrant groups in New York City—focused on Dominican influences, with performances by Edilio Paredes and the Ballet Folklórico of Alianza Dominicana (pictured). Other concerts in the series, presented by the Ph.D./D.M.A. Program in Music, include "Passing it On: Teachers and Students of Irish Traditional Music" (April 19) and a performance by the Bassam Saba Ensemble (May 15), which combines Arabic and Western elements in its music.
