From The Wellness Center
Psychological
Counseling and Adult Development Center
The Psychological Counseling and Adult Development
(PCAD) Center offers short-term individual counseling,
group counseling, workshops, consultations, crisis intervention,
and referral services to matriculated Graduate Center
students. The center is staffed by licensed psychologists
and postdoctoral and predoctoral fellows. Services are
confidential and free of charge.
The PCAD Center is once again offering its workshop program "Action
and Mastery: Pathways to Progress in Graduate School." During
the Spring semester, students may participate in a variety
of workshops, groups, and individual consultations designed
to overcome obstacles to working effectively and to enhance
one’s experience of graduate school. Topics include
dissertation completion, procrastination, the “imposter
syndrome”, parenting, public speaking, writing
inhibition, and stress reduction. Over 95% of students
surveyed expressed satisfaction with past workshops,
and indicated that they would recommend them to others.
Join our staff of experts for one or a series of these
workshops to address topics in an open and supportive
atmosphere.

Student Health Services (SHS)
Please note that until further notice, a nurse practitioner
is not available in Student Health Services
Student Health Services (SHS) was established to be staffed
by a nurse practitioner licensed to provide medical care,
including episodic treatment, screenings, referrals, and
general health and wellness programs. Medical services
will not be available until a new on-site, hospital-employed
nurse practitioner is in place. Some non-Graduate Center-affiliated
clinics and health services are listed at http://web.gc.cuny.edu/wellness/Medical%20Locations.pdf.
In addition, all students have been e-mailed information
on short-term “stop gap” primary health care
services through their program offices. The option for
currently registered GC students to avail themselves of
health services at Institute for Urban Family health (IUFH)
clinics has been extended at least through February 6 (please
refer to the memo disseminated through your program offices.).
Primary care health services and charges for uninsured,
underinsured, and insured students, respectively, are detailed
in the memo. Students are reminded that this arrangement
is conditioned on the requirement that students who do
have health insurance provide their insurance information
when requesting services. More information may be obtained
from Student Health Services or the Office of the Vice
President for Student Affairs.
The Student Health Services office will be open during
regular hours, Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.,
for students who may wish to consult the referral manual
that the office maintains, avail themselves of other health
and wellness information available from the office, or
to submit immunization or health insurance documents.
