Tuition and fees are due by the first day of classes. If you do not pay the total fees and tuition by the time indicated you could be barred from future registration.

Unless your registration is canceled by the college, or you withdraw before the first scheduled day of classes, no portion of the student activity fee or other special fees is refundable.

All tuition and fee schedules are subject to change without notice at any time upon action by the City University of New York, regardless of the tuition and fee schedules in effect at the time of application.

Financing your graduate studies

Tuition and Fees

For calculation of your tuition rates, you are classified according to your level of doctoral work. Your tuition rate will also vary according to whether you are a New York State resident, and whether you are a full-time or part-time student.

Financial Assistance

The Graduate Center makes every effort to provide financial assistance for its graduate students. In the awarding of financial assistance, the Graduate Center measures each student’s need as a relationship between all of the resources available to the student and all appropriate expenses in connection with the student’s studies.

International Students

All prospective international students must complete the “Request for Certificate of Eligibility and Declaration and Certification of Finances” and return it with the necessary supporting financial documentation. It is important to keep in mind that the estimate of expenses is a minimum figure, and that actual costs may vary. International students should also bear in mind that University financial assistance for which they are eligible is limited and usually not adequate to fund the student’s total expenses. Eligibility for off-campus employment is also limited, and students must not expect to finance their studies through employment in the United States.

Deadlines

An admissions applicant seeking financial assistance should make every possible effort to have all admission and financial aid forms submitted by the earliest deadline listed in the application. Applicants for admission and financial aid for the Fall term who have not yet taken the Graduate Record Exam are encouraged to take the exam no later than October for admission the following September.
