"Much of my work in theoretical physics is devoted to exploring novel ways of understanding physical phenomena in terms of symmetry and broken symmetry. This leads to predictions of new properties of matter, such as collective states and phases. It is very rewarding to work with our brightest students exploring new ways of extending symmetry analysis, and carrying out other theoretical investigations on 'hot topics' in nanophysics, superconductivity, photonics, and strongly correlated matter." |
