The City University of New York School of Public Health (CUNY SPH) is seeking a Senior Associate
Dean for Administration and Inter-Campus Coordination. The CUNY SPH is a consortial school,
accredited by the Council on Education for Public Health, which includes the public health programs at
Brooklyn, Hunter and Lehman Colleges and the Graduate School and University Center. We offer a
range of innovative bachelor's, master's and doctoral degree programs, with a focus on urban health.
Reporting to and working closely with the Dean, the Senior Associate Dean will have the following
- Develop, implement and monitor a strategic plan for the School, in accordance with its
mission to help create and sustain healthier cities and provide solutions to pressing
health problems facing urban populations
- Design and implement the administrative and operational structures and processes to
optimize the School's strategic vision, in accordance with applicable campus, school,
university, accreditation and regulatory requirements
- Execute systems to assure effective coordination and integration of information and
services for the School, including systems related to financial management,
communications, faculty, students, research and other operations and activities
- Plan and direct the school's administrative operations, including: budget and finance,
human resources, computing and technology, communications, facilities and
- Assess the school's administrative operations and implement improvements, as needed
- Serve as chief administrative officer in the absence of the Dean, as instructed.
- May devote up to 25% time to scholarly activities
- Supervise administrative staff
- Assist the Dean with other duties as assigned

This position performs high-level executive academic functions.


This position is in CUNY's Executive Compensation Plan. All executive positions require a minimum of
a Bachelor's degree and eight years' related experience. Additional qualifications are defined below.
The successful candidate should have most of the following:
- A doctorate in public health or a related field
- Scholarly accomplishments, commensurate with a faculty appointment at the rank of
- At least 10 years of progressive managerial experience, preferably in an academic and/or
public health or health care setting
- Expertise in program development, administration and organizational change
- Experience in organizational and/or program assessment
- Strong evidence of leadership and interdisciplinary collaboration and communication,
including an ability to interact effectively with multiple stakeholders (i.e. senior
administrators, faculty, staff, students, and external constituencies), preferably in
collaborative, multi-institutional and/or multi-site settings
- Familiarity with applicable campus, college, university, accreditation and regulatory
- Experience in handling budgets
- Demonstrated experience in leading and performing with flexibility in a dynamic academic
- Strong consultative, negotiation, diplomatic, problem-solving, organizational and written
and oral communication skills
- An ability to multi-task and pay attention to detail

Salary Range

Salary commensurate with qualifications and experience.
