Inaugurated in the fall of 2001, Macaulay Honors College is dedicated to providing outstanding educational opportunities for academically gifted students from the five boroughs of New York City and beyond.  The Macaulay Honors College program includes generous financial support for each student, including a full-tuition merit scholarship and an Opportunities Fund grant. In addition, the Honors College offers unique interdisciplinary seminars focusing on New York City, training in instructional technology, dedicated mentors and advisors, prominent visiting professors, internships, study abroad experiences, and a Cultural Passport that provides entry to the vast cultural resources of New York City.  Macaulay operates in partnership with eight CUNY campuses: Baruch, Brooklyn, City, Hunter, John Jay, Lehman, Queens, and Staten Island; graduates are awarded a degree jointly conferred by Macaulay and their home campus. Currently, Macaulay Honors College has approximately 2,032 University Scholars enrolled on the eight campuses.
 
General Duties:
 
The College Assistant for Office of Scholarships and Grants must rapidly become familiar with Macaulay Honors College, its program, curriculum, and functions.  The College Assistant’s duties will be assigned by the Associate Director of Scholarships and Grants for a variety of specific activities including, but not limited to, the following:
 
-Assist with the study abroad, scholarships, service and financial aid programs
-Draft and edit materials for Macaulay Honors College website
-Responding to phone and email inquiries
-Use Access, Excel, and other software to create and manage databases and reports and code scholarship applicants
-Primary coordination of the Cultural Passport program, including managing relationships with external partners, plan group visits to arts and cultural venues, distribution of ID cards, and maintaining the passport website
-Process scholarship applications
-Assist with departmental assessment
-Manage social media content
-Assist the Associate Director of Scholarships and Grants
-Assist with co-curricular programming
-Disseminate college information, policies and procedures
-Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Minimum Qualification
-High school diploma
 
Preferred Qualifications
A bachelor’s degree is preferred. The successful candidate for the position of College Assistant for Office of Scholarships and Grants will possess excellent organizational, administrative, and computer skills, including knowledge of the entire MS Office Suite. Accuracy, attention to detail, and the ability to handle multiple projects at once are required. Experience working with students and a strong customer-service orientation are preferred. The position will entail the handling of confidential financial and academic information and will also require an individual with demonstrated tact and maturity.

Salary Range

$17.00 per hour
