A message to International students from the President and Provost

Office of the President

We know that many of you will already have heard about the dismaying ruling of the Student and Exchange Visitor Program (SEVP). For those of you who haven't heard, the US Government’s SEVP has declared that international students may not take a full online course load and remain in the United States.
We understand the distress and anxiety this ruling is eliciting and we are also shocked. We value the scholarship and perspectives that international students bring to The Graduate Center and classrooms throughout CUNY. While we still do not know enough to give definitive answers we wanted you to know we are actively looking into the ruling and seeing if there is any way the ruling can be mitigated. As soon as possible we will be in touch with you about this. We encourage you to attend the previously scheduled International Students Zoom meeting this upcoming Wednesday (7/8 at 10 am EST, contact intstu@gc.cuny.edu for further details).
We will do everything we can to help you make progress and succeed in your programs. We greatly value you at The Graduate Center and we will do everything we can to keep you here.
