GC Statement Regarding Executive Order on Immigration
Along with you, we are monitoring very closely the effects of yesterday’s presidential executive order restricting U.S. entry for individuals from seven countries.
As an academic institution with global reach, we recognize that this ban may have a deep impact on who we are and what we do at the Graduate Center, but today, our top concern is for our student Saira Rafiee. We are staying alert to the possibility that other GC scholars may be directly affected by the ban.
We are working closely with GC executive officers, the Chancellor’s Office, and U.S. authorities, to ensure the well-being of all members of our community.
We will provide additional updates in the days ahead. If you have any questions, please contact Matthew Schoengood, Vice President of Student Affairs (email@example.com) or Linda Asaro, Director of the Office of International Students (firstname.lastname@example.org).
