The Joseph S. Murphy Institute for Worker Education and Labor Studies is a collaboration between the University and New York City labor unions, for the purpose of serving the educational, policy and research needs of unions and their members.  The Institute is comprised of the Center for Worker Education and the Center for Labor, Community and Policy Studies.  The Institute is part of the School of Professional Studies.
 
The Murphy Institute is seeking a College Assistant/Program Assistant.
 
Duties and Responsibilities:

The College Assistant reports to the Associate/Assistant Director of the Division where s/he is assigned (or to his/her designee).  Duties will include:
 
-Providing administrative assistance to academic program teams.
-Performing frontline reception duties: routine clerical work such as copying, information request fulfillment, filing, and returning calls as needed.
-Responding to general inquiries regarding the Murphy Institute and its degree and certificate programs to ensure the highest level of student satisfaction; respond to information requests in a professional and courteous manner.
-Routing calls to the appropriate department and staff.
-Recording all student inquiries in database; perform database maintenance.
-Preparing inquiry and admission packets.
-Assisting information sessions and orientations.
-Assisting with copying, filing, faxing, mailings, processing book orders for faculty, maintaining attendance files, coordinating a/v equipment.
-Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:
-High School Diploma

Preferred Qualifications:
-College degree preferred
-At least two years of related experience preferred
-Excellent phone etiquette preferred
-Prior clerical experience preferred
-Excellent computer skills preferred

Salary Range

$12.00-$15.00 per hour

Hours

20 hours per week
