Overview:
 
The Ph.D. Program in Psychology is an exciting and active program with over 550 doctoral students and 200 faculty located on eight CUNY campuses.  The Executive Office, located at the Graduate Center, serves as the hub of this expansive consortium, facilitating student progress, research and scholarly productivity, and campus cooperation.  The administrative staff, including the College Assistant, works with the Executive Officer, Assistant Program Officers, faculty and student leaders, to support the mission of the doctoral program in Psychology by:
 
-Upholding the highest standards of professional behavior;
-Communicating effectively in writing, speaking, and electronic venues;
-Working to foster productive and respectful relationships with students, faculty, and administrators; and,
-Effectively representing the program to the Graduate Center and campus administrators and support staff.

Responsibilities:
 
The College Assistant will assist the Assistant Program Officer and Executive Office in the Ph.D. Program in Psychology with the daily operations of the administrative functions of the Executive Office.
 
The Executive Office values teamwork, professionalism, and dedication to the program and seeks administrative staff with excellent database management and organizational skills.  Primary duties include:  providing support to the Assistant Program Officers, Executive Officer, and Deputy Executive Officers in the day-to-day management of the program; creating and maintaining databases in ACCESS and EXCEL on an ongoing basis, which are used in the daily management of the program, as well as for outcomes assessment, retention, and strategic planning reports; database development and management tasks, such as creating and updating mailing lists; making suggestions for improvements and enhancement in databases; meticulous attention to detail in preparing all databases; interacting with other Graduate Center offices and programs as needed to obtain necessary data for such reports; gathering course schedules and course descriptions from all units of the program and maintaining a database record of them; web page development, monitoring, and updating; assisting in enhanced technological linkages between the Graduate Center and campus-based faculty and students; and, assisting in event and meeting management as requested through creating fliers for events, publicizing events, setting up meetings and conference calls, and scheduling rooms and equipment for events. Other duties include general office management tasks.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:
-High School Diploma
 
Preferred Qualifications:
-B.A. preferred.
-Previous professional office experience.
-Familiarity with and mastery of the following Windows based programs:

E-mail programs such as Microsoft Outlook or equivalent if the GC system changes Windows 7
Word Processing (WORD & PowerPoint)
Web Authoring Software (e.g., Front Page or Dreamweaver)
Database programs including Access and Excel

-Ability to demonstrate professionalism, reliability, and be highly organized with attention to detail. 
-Ability to multitask, be flexible, deliver consistent and high quality work, meet tight deadlines, and be collegial to supervisors and colleagues.

Salary Range

$13.00-$15.00 per hour (dependent upon qualifications and experience)
