While unpopular with most New York voters, President Donald Trump rose to great wealth and power in this liberal, capitalist mecca. David Nasaw, Arthur M. Schlesinger Jr. professor of history at the GC and acclaimed biographer of Andrew Carnegie and Joseph Kennedy, leads a discussion on how the Trumps made it in NYC, speaking with Gwenda Blair (The Trumps: Three Generations of Builders and a President) and David Cay Johnston (The Making of Donald Trump).

Presented with the Gotham Center for NYC History.
