Portuguese fado explores the dualities of existence—love and loss, belonging and isolation, joy and pain. Marco Oliveira is a singer-songwriter who charts fado’s path in the modern world with tales of longing or saudade. Singer Tania Oleiro reaches into fado’s past and future, drawing on traditional compositions and lyrics by contemporary writers. They make their New York debut with guitarist Sandro Costa, a master improviser who has honed his craft in Lisbon's traditional taverns and on international stages. Part of the New York Fado Festival.
