Governor Jerry Brown will be on stage to discuss his life and family saga with Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Miriam Pawel, author of The Browns of California: The Family Dynasty That Transformed a State and Shaped a Nation. The story begins with Brown's great-grandfather, Prussian immigrant August Schuckman, who crossed the Plains in 1852 and settled on a northern California ranch. Over a century later, Jerry Brown reclaimed the family homestead and became the youngest governor in modern times—then returned three decades later as the oldest. Governor Brown and Pawel will join in a discussion with Kai Bird, executive director of the Leon Levy Center for Biography.
Presented with the Leon Levy Center for Biography.
