Description

American culture is constantly being remade by immigrants. In this panel, acclaimed writers Suketu Mehta (author of the forthcoming book This Land Is Their Land) and Gary Shteyngart (author of Lake Success) discuss with sociologists Nancy Foner and Philip Kasinitz how immigrants transform—and are themselves transformed by—American culture. Foner is a distinguished professor of sociology at The Graduate Center and Hunter College; Kasinitz is a presidential professor of sociology at The Graduate Center.

Presented with Carnegie Hall as part of the citywide festival Migrations: The Making of America.
