Description

This event has been postponed.

Holly George-Warren
’s Janis: Her Life and Music has been called “the definitive portrait of one of pop culture’s most misunderstood martyrs” (NPR). This intensely intimate biography of Janis Joplin reconsiders her as the rule-breaking musical trailblazer and complicated, gender-bending rebel that she was. George-Warren, whose books include The Road to Woodstock, had unprecedented access to Joplin’s family, friends, bandmates, and long-lost interviews for the new book. The author speaks with Marc Dolan, professor at John Jay College and The Graduate Center and author of Bruce Springsteen and the Promise of Rock 'n' Roll.

Presented with the Leon Levy Center for Biography.
