Mark Drury (Anthropology) was awarded a Fulbright-Hays Fellowship for his dissertation project, “The Structure of Disjuncture: An Anthropology of Western Sahara’s Decolonization.” Drury will be in Western Sahara, using oral histories, interviews, and participant observation to research three moments in the territory’s ongoing decolonization: the anticolonial armed struggle in the 1950s, the UN-led attempts to hold a referendum on self-determination in the 1990s, and current changes to the social geography of the region.
