Merih Uctum, a professor of economics at the Graduate Center of the City University of New York discussed speculation using Soros as a model who bet against the pound during the 1990s. Central bankers have learned from that speculation which left the pound devalued. Soros bought the devalued pound at the lower exchange rate and earned more than 1 billion dollars, as a result.
