- Message from President Robinson Regarding Changes to Our Administration
November 15, 2017
I am pleased to inform you about some changes that I have made to accommodate the Graduate Center's increased academic and administrative responsibilities.
As you know, the Advanced Science Research Center (ASRC) became part of the Graduate Center in January. In March, the CUNY Board of Trustees approved a resolution that will move the Joseph S. Murphy Institute for Worker Education and Labor Studies to the University Center, alongside Macaulay Honors College, the Graduate School of Journalism, the Graduate School of Public Health & Health Policy, and the School of Professional Studies. The institute will be renamed the School of Labor Studies and Urban Affairs.
The following administrative changes will allow us to address increased burdens on our operations and responsibilities.
First, Bob Campbell, who currently serves as vice president for information technology, will take on additional duties as vice president for information technology and administrative services. Bob will continue to serve as our senior information technologist, but with an expanded portfolio, serving as chief operating officer of the ASRC, assuming overall management of human resource functions, and overseeing the delivery of shared services between the GC and the professional schools. We all know Bob to be an outstanding leader and problem solver, who has provided exceptional service to the GC community for more than a decade.
Second, Elaine Montilla, who currently serves as director of client services and deputy chief information officer, will serve as assistant vice president for information technology and chief information officer, reporting directly to Bob. Elaine has more than 15 years of IT experience, holding a succession of positions of increasing responsibility. Those of us who have had the pleasure of working with Elaine appreciate the very considerable skills and talent that she brings to this position.
Third, Ella Kiselyuk, executive director of human resources, will acquire an expanded portfolio as assistant vice president for University Center operations. Also reporting to Bob, Ella will assume responsibility for developing and executing managerial and operational processes that deliver shared services across the GC and the University Center units. Teena Costabile will serve as interim executive director of human resources and will report directly to Ella. Ella’s wide-ranging experience and knowledge of HR systems and processes, as well as first-hand experience with the University Center entities during the past eight years at the GC, makes her uniquely qualified to assume this important responsibility.
Please join me in congratulating Bob, Elaine, Ella, and Teena on their new roles.
Chase F. Robinson
