White Families Are the Engines of Inequality
Huffington Post, 2.27.18
Opinion-editorial by Jessie Daniels, professor of sociology at Hunter College and The Graduate Center, CUNY. Daniels argues that "hoarding opportunity and perpetuating inequality" is a key feature of "typical white American families." She cites growing gaps in income, wealth, and opportunity between whites and minorties and the efforts by white families to protect and pass down their privelege rather than redistribute it.
