2018 Predictions: How Will the Global Wine Market Change?

With retirement age hitting for the bulk of people born in the 1950s now, the international wine market may begin taking a hit as this generation is the largest consumer of wine in the world. Economics professor David Jaeger of The Graduate Center, CUNY says, “The aging of the baby boomers and their transition into retirement might lead to a reduction in wine consumption as their incomes decline. Overall, then, I would expect wine sales will not continue to grow at the pace they have in the recent past or even level off.”
