Ph.D. Students win Dissertation Year Fellowships

Two Chemistry Ph.D. Students have earned $25,000 Dissertation Year Fellowships to complete their research. Keke Hu (Prof. Michael Mirkin, Queens College) is working on her thesis research entitled “Nanoelectrochemical Measurements of Reactive Oxygen and Nitrogen Species in Single Phagolysosomes” and Colleen Brent (Prof. Lynn Francesconi, Hunter College) is working on “Utilizing magnetic nanoparticles for the extraction of technetium-99 from aqueous solutions as a starting point for used nuclear fuel applications.
