Thomas Spear, CUNY, Prix du Rayonnement de la langue et de la littérature françaises

As it does every year in June, the French Academy (L’Académie française) awarded its literary prizes; this time, there were 66 winners. From Kamel Daoud to Hélène Cixous and Marie Sizun, the list includes winners hailing from or dedicated to work from the Caribbean: Haitian author Gary Victor and Thomas C. Spear (CUNY), founder of Ile en île. Our warmest congratulations.

Professor Thomas Spear (Lehman and GC) received one of the Grands Prix du Rayonnement de la langue et de la littérature françaises, given by the Académie française in June 2018 for his lifetime dedication to Francophone literatures. This is long due recognition for his multiple work as a scholar, translator, editor and publisher through his Ile-en-Ile site, of these literatures.
