Historias híbridas: La nueva novela histórica latinoamericana (1985–2000) ante las teorías posmodernas de la historia
(Iberoamericana Vervuert, 2008)
This study examines the historical Latin American novel of the last two decades, and both Americans and Europeans, and especially Latin Americans, are invited to reflect on historical discourse in the context of postmodern debates. Perkowska suggests that, in their historical novels, Aridijis, Baccino, Ponce de León, Ipparaguirre, Poniatowska, Ramírez, and Martínez provoke a reevaluation of the idea of history and a reformulation of both the ideological premises and the strategies of historical discourse in Spanish. Magdalena Perkowska (Assoc. Prof., Hunter) is on the doctoral faculty in Hispanic and Luso-Brazilian literatures and languages.
