Alumnus Book: Hayden Herrera
Hayden Herrera published Listening to Stone: The Art and Life of Isamu Noguchi. Throughout the 20th century, artist Isamu Noguchi was a master of what he called the “sculpturing of space.” But he struggled to embrace his conflicted identity as the son of a single American woman and a famous yet reclusive Japanese father. This biography observes the driving force of Noguchi’s creativity as intimately tied to his deep appreciation of nature.
Hayden Herrera, an art historian and biographer, received her Ph.D. from the Graduate Center.
