NYPD reported that starting on 10/23/18, pipe bombs were delivered to the homes and offices of high profile political figures in and around New York City. All of the devices were delivered in weighty large manila envelopes, addressed in block type and had the same number of American flag stamps. Graduate Center mail room personnel have been reminded of suspicious package identification and mail screening protocols and public safety officers have been informed of the threat. If you come across suspicious mail or packages, do not touch it, leave the area immediately and call Public Safety at 212-817-7777 (do not use a cell phone).

On Monday, 3/22/16, a terrorist bomb attack targeting an airport and subway station in Brussels, Belgium killed 35 people and injured over 300. There is no known nexus to New York City but both cities have similar infrastructure so now is a good time to review how we would react to such a threat or actual attack.
On Monday, 11/16/15, The GC’s Title IX Coordinator and Public Safety Director were informed of an off-campus sexual assault involving two GC students. The female student reported that a male student drugged and sexually assaulted her while she was incapacitated.
The personal safety of students, staff, faculty and visitors is of primary importance at the Graduate Center.
