Information for Students
The Graduate Center has announced its plan for remote instruction in fall 2020. We are committed to meeting students’ educational and research needs while also creating a safe and supportive environment.
At this time, The Graduate Center’s 365 Fifth Avenue campus is not open to students.
Fall 2020 Classes
In accordance with CUNY policy and guidance, all Graduate Center classroom instruction will be remote for the fall.
During this period of remote instruction, The Graduate Center remains open and as dedicated as ever to serving our students through world-class instruction and research support. The Graduate Center believes that offering remote instruction is the best course of action in order to safeguard the health and well-being of our students, faculty, and staff.
CUNY has created a CUNY Continuity for Students page. Students who have questions or concerns should contact the Provost's Office or the Office of Student Affairs.
Services to meet our students needs are being addressed remotely where possible. The Mina Rees Library, the Office of Grants and Sponsored Research, the Registrar’s Office, the Student Counseling Center, the Office of Career Planning and Professional Development, and The Writing Center have provided guidance on accessing their services remotely.
We have also created a departmental contact list with information on how to reach individual offices via email and phone.
In accordance with federal regulations:
- Continuing international students: F-1 and J-1 students with an active SEVIS record, may enroll in all online classes for fall 2020 while in the United States or outside the United States. You must enroll in a full-time course load for fall 2020 and you will continue to maintain F-1 status with a SEVIS active record.
- Newly admitted international students will not be permitted to come to the U.S. to take all online classes. They may, however, take their Graduate Center courses online from their home countries and receive their tuition fellowships.
