- VIDEO: Thomas G. Weiss on Voice of America Concerning 'UN Struggles'
Presidential Professor Thomas G. Weiss (Political Science), Director Emeritus of the GC’s Ralph Bunche Institute for International Studies, was recently featured on the Voice of America regarding the United Nations’ challenges in remaining a viable force on the world stage.
“The one thing everyone can agree on is that the Security Council, as it was framed in 1945, no longer represents the power structure of the year 2015,” Weiss said in the video segment, “UN Struggles to Remain Relevant at 70.”
Weiss, a leading expert on the theory and practice of humanitarian intervention, has taught, lectured, and conducted research on a variety of issues in international relations for more than 40 years. He is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations and the author or editor of more than 50 books.
Earlier this year, Weiss published a new volume of Wartime Origins and the Future of the United Nations (Routledge). He discussed the origins of war and the UN’s “forgotten” history in an interview with SiriusXM.
