Update - Office thefts on 4/6/09

On Wednesday, 4/22/09, at approximately 10:35AM, two of the three suspects involved in the 4/6/09 office thefts attempted to enter The Graduate Center. The suspects were detained, NYPD was called and the suspects were taken into custody. The NYPD Detective assigned to the case reported that both suspects confessed and provided valuable information concerning the third suspect. He also said that there was a possibility that some of the stolen property might be recovered.

This incident should serve as a reminder that a truly safe campus can only be achieved through the cooperation of all its students, staff and faculty. We should keep in mind that the potential for crime does exist and each of us should assume personal responsibility by taking precautions to prevent ourselves from becoming victims of crime. To prevent similar crimes from occurring, please make sure that you lock your office when not in use, secure your property in locked desks and cabinets and call x7777 immediately if you observe suspicious behavior.
